As you can tell, the blog has been dormant and will most likely be down for another month. I am currently getting my house ready for resale and have very
little free time, but once my house hits the market in the next month or so. I should be back up a running soon with my weekly blogs. AND Congrats to Bob
Grant, things should start moving quickly now that he is in charge.

With the final decision on the WSU AD position being finalized soon I thought I would take another look at the candidates. I've posted on here before that
if I had one wish, I would want the Bob Grant era to begin following Dr. Cusack's retirement. But I will play the devil's advocate here. What if Bob
Grant were to turn the job down (not going to happen, but let's pretend), which of the other 3 applicant's, Teter, McNamee or Downing would be the best
fit for WSU. I will...

The final segment of my promotions blog is about getting the students out to the basketball games. This segment is about what the University itself can do to
get the students into and involved, and not what the students (ie. Rowdies) are doing to help promote involvement themselves. I applaud the Rowdies on their
ideas, as they are an integral part of student involvement, hearing from your peers is always a good way to generate responses, and having a dedidcated group
of students is something...

Reading the two Wright State message boards, I have seen a lot of good ideas to help increase attendance at the basketball games. I seen people suggest ticket
giveaways both single game and season tickets. Some other suggestions have been food giveaways/discounts and all-you-can-eat deals included with a ticket, or
special entertainment at the game. While others have suggested military nights and other specific occupation or company nights. These are just a few of the
ideas, and all of these...

What can the WSU Athletic Department do to get more fans in the seats? That's a tough question, and there is no sure answer. First there needs to be a
promotion that really benefits the Athletic Department, that promotion would be to make Bob Grant the next AD. I feel that Bob Grant is not only a good
athletics guy, but a good people guy too. He has been fundamental in bringing in more money into the athletic department to upgrade many things. To raise this
money, he has been inovative in...

Wright State Coach Brad Brownell has decided to go the juco route with this year's recruiting class. This will give the Raiders a big (6) junior class
(Duggins, Brown, Gardner, Thomas, Lewis, Cooperwood) counting the two new junior college transfers Lewis and Cooperwood. In the past, this would be a big
problem with unbalanced classes, causing problems down the road when all six players are replaced with new guys. The good news for the WSU coaching staff is
that these six players are...

With the Tony Bennett snub of Indiana University, and the $2 million buyout in Sean Miller of Xavier's contract, talk again has come to Brad Brownell as a
possible candidate for IU. Until Brad is officially contacted, I would say most of this is just rumor and speculation, and should be put to rest until Coach
Brownell is actually contacted. I think it would be a great compliment for Coach B to get the IU job, and he is surely worthy of the position from everything I
have both seen on the...

Wright State's AD, Dr. Michael Cusack, has decided to step down from the Athletic Director position in June '08. Dr. Cusack has had some ups and
downs during his tenure, but overall most would say he was a successful AD, and helped lead WSU into Division 1 smoothly after leading a very successful
Division II athletic department. He has been at the forefront of all of WSU's athletic facility upgrades that rival some of the best in the country. After
recent hires of Coach...

Well I was wrong on the CBI and Butler Seed. Just goes to show that good seasons are not always fairly rewarded.

WSU declines to host a CBI game. I was originally against not putting up the money to host a CBI game, as I was being selfish and wanted to
watch some more basketball. In hindsight, WSU not ponying up the money was the right choice. There was no preparation for gauging if WSU and local fans would
have supported the game. Especially considering there were...

I am picking WSU as being on the 2 or 3 line firmly in the CBI tourney, with the only hope of the NIT being if teams choose the CBI over the NIT. There were
too many league upsets in the lower conferences taking up an additional 15 spots in the NCAA and NIT. I think Wright State making the NCAA last year gives them
some staying power to get into the CBI.

I am also looking forward to seeing where Butler ends up in the NCAA on selection Sunday. I predict a 4 seed. I hope they get a...

bid conferences win their tourneys so the NIT doesn't fill up with automatic bids. I have the feeling WSU will be in the CBI, but I haven't given up on
the NIT just yet.
